Monmouth Chef Wins Culinary Competition
Hannah Freeman from Monmouth has been named as the winner of our recent national competition to find a promising chef.
Hannah, who has been cooking for more than 15 years, will be working with us to help create recipes and cooking tips for the website.
Managing Director, Mark Callaghan explained: "We're thrilled to announce Hannah as the winner of our competition.
"We were very impressed with her application and it was immediately clear that she will work well with us. Hannah enjoys cooking good British food, using many of the store cupboard staples you can find on our website."
The competition was launched to search for the UK's next budding Jamie Oliver or Nigella and to help foster their career through exposure to our millions of customers worldwide.
Mark added: "We were looking for a new and exciting chef or home cook, who may not have had classical training, but who represents the very best of British, Hannah completely fits the criteria."
The 29-year-old, who was inspired to cook by her Grandmother, tries to use seasonal ingredients for her recipes.
She said: "I am so excited to have been announced as the winner of the competition. Cooking British food is my passion and it has been an eternal ambition to explore the area of food writing, so I am extremely grateful to have been given this opportunity.
"I have experienced the expat lifestyle in France and I have often taken tins of Heinz Baked Beans, English tea or British back bacon to friends living abroad.
"It is really exciting to think that not only is it now easy for people living or working abroad to purchase British food items from British Corner Shop, but also that I will be able to give them tips on how to create lovely meals from them."
